MELTING POT

Location: Melbourne, Victoria

Melbourne is a melting pot of hidden cool with an old school facade – scratch the surface and you’ll be rewarded with secret bars, cafes, and lane ways that transform at night as well as a rich long history of Australian settlement.

The old and ornate facade of Flinders Station.

We checked out the street art down Degraves Street, Hosier and Central Lane, and peopled watched along the shopping strips of the CBD. We ate til our bellies were full at hip restaurants and cafes, and then drank at bars we stumbled on whilst lost in mazes and mazes of back alleyways and lane ways. We admired the city skyline from the docks of St Kilda Pier and the bright lights at the top of the Eureka Skydeck. We explored the neighborhoods from Fitzroy to Docklands, and met up with friends and family along the way. For five days it was packed to the brim and this was just hanging around the city!

I’ve always considered moving to Melbourne but never quite plucked up the courage to leave beautiful and laid back Perth, however, every time I do go for a visit I will always fantasize about moving here. Every time I visit there’s something new to see, shop or eat; so it’ll keep me coming back for more.

Oh and I highly recommend getting yourself down to Chin Chin Restaurant in the CBD for a Feed Me! An onslaught of 11 of the chef’s choice of dishes. You can thank me later.
